Although most of the stone inscriptions and copper plates found in Goa (and other parts of Konkan) from 2nd century BC to 10th century AD are in Prakrit-influenced Sanskrit (mostly written in early Brahmi and archaic Dravidian Brahmi), most of the place, grant, agricultural-related and names of some people are in Konkani. This suggests that Konkani was spoken in Goa and Konkan.
